The Device

First thing you notice: TickTime kept the packaging on-brand. It’s a matte black cube with a giant “60” rendered in that classic LED-segment font on the side, and a soft-touch circle on the front simply stamped “TickTime.” No plastic-wrap chaos, no wasted cardboard — just a clean, minimal unbox that already feels premium before you even get the device out.

Pull the TK3 out and it’s noticeably chunkier than TickTime’s older Cube and Hexagon models — this one sits on a wider base with actual physical buttons up front (including a satisfying orange power/select key) instead of relying purely on touch or flip gestures. The glossy bezel around the display gives it almost a “smart speaker” vibe rather than a plain desk timer, and the rubberized base means it’s not sliding around your desk mid-Pomodoro.

The Display

This is where the 2026 upgrade really shows. The TK3 uses a color-ringed LED face — you can see red, orange, yellow, and green segments wrapped around the display, which visually tracks your countdown progress at a glance (handy if you’re the type who keeps checking the clock instead of trusting the timer). In our unit it was sitting on 04:31 with a “We” (Wednesday) day indicator and a small battery + hourglass icon up top — so yes, it’s tracking day, time, and countdown status all at once.

No app pairing, no Bluetooth fuss — TickTime has always leaned into “physical-first” simplicity, and the TK3 keeps that promise. Flip or press to jump into Pomodoro mode (25/5, auto-repeats 4 cycles), tap over to countdown for the classic 5/10/30/60-minute presets, or dial in a fully custom countdown up to 99 minutes if none of the presets fit your task. Need a clock? Flip modes again and it becomes a legit LED desk clock with day and date.

Living with it

For students, WFH folks, or anyone managing ADHD-style focus sessions, the combo of silent flash + vibration alerts is genuinely useful — you can run a full workday of Pomodoros without a single beep going off in a shared space.
